| CSRA HUMANE SOCIETY LAUNCHES ONLINE 'LOST & FOUND' FEATURE February 20, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Augusta (GA)- In an effort to help bring missing pets and their families back together, local non-profit group CSRA Humane Society has created an online service for the community. Any missing animal can be posted on the site, so that others will know who to contact if the pet is found. Likewise, found pets can be posted with a phone number, so that the family member who is missing a pet can call the family who has taken the missing pet in. http://www.csrahumanesociety.org/ “This service is very compatible with our mission to foster healthy people-pet relations,” explains Raynette Mayer, President of the CSRA Humane Society Board of Directors. “Based on the number of calls we were getting regarding lost and found pets, we felt a great need to get this information out to the public.” In addition to the lost and found posting page, the CSRA Humane Society often offers a low-cost microchip service, so that people can get a tiny chip inserted painlessly into their pet. Once this chip information is registered, it increases the likelihood of finding the animal in the future. Most local animal rescue agencies immediately scan for microchip information when a cat or dog is brought in. This helps provide needed information about the animal’s home.
